Meet VALORANT, the newest title to be supported by Esports Data Provider

mjunior - 15th March 2022

Year after year, esports have been growing at an impressive pace. Every new year we see new titles coming up, older games getting back to the spotlight thanks to updates, and when we look at the horizon, there’s always something in there to be excited about. Back in 2022, this was no different. Esports was one of the various industries surrounded by uncertainty back then, but one title was set to shake the industry that year.

This game is, of course, VALORANT. Riot Games’ first-person shooter had been rumoured for a while back then, but it was finally releasing in summer of 2020. Now, while a new esports game comes every now and then, VALORANT was different. Not only it already gathered a lot of attention from FPS’ fans thanks to its nature, but it also got the eyes of industry enthusiasts thanks to the people behind it.

Riot Games, the developers of the ever-growing and leading esports title “League of Legends”, is a household name by now. They’re behind some of the biggest circuits in esports after all, and League of Legends has been in the market for over a decade. So, it’s no surprise that Riot’s biggest new project in years would get a lot of attention.

So, while it’s obvious why VALORANT became the most recent game to become a premier esports title, we want to give you a little bit of insight as to why we decided to make it the next supported game by Esports Data Provider, and what kind of support you can expect from us. If you already known Riot’s title, though, you can immediately get your API key through here.

VALORANT, why?

VALORANT’s popularity has been on the rise, and in less than three years, it has already gained a place among other premier esports titles such as Valve’s “Counter-Strike” franchise and Ubisoft’s “Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege”. For us, this quick rise was enough reason to take a serious look as we wanted to know which title would get our full attention next as we planned to expand our API.

However, its current popularity is not the only factor behind bringing VALORANT to our platform. Riot Games has made clear that VALORANT won’t be limited to computers. The company is looking into expanding their newest game to mobile products, and that means that an entirely different population of gamers will be getting their hands at the game. Right now, VALORANT popularity is certainly concentrated in the west, as well as some specific countries in Asia such as South Korea and Japan, but that’s about to change.

For that reason, we decided to focus on Riot’s FPS as our newest addition to Esports Data Provider. You can already get your API key here and start digging into what we offer, even! It’s going to be an amazing experience to see the upcoming expansion of VALORANT in untouched markets, and we want to support it all the way, from now, until its mobile version becomes a major hit in different markets. For you, this means that your community will be able to expand to whole different countries. Gamers from Southeast Asia, for example, will be eager to follow the latest in this game which just started booming in their region, and with our API, you will be ready to welcome them.

Full support

Just like Counter-Strike, DotA 2, League of Legends, Rocket League and others, you can expect us to fully support VALORANT. This means that we’ll be covering all the action happening in the main events of the VALORANT Champions Tour circuit, from the Challenger series to the Champions event. Your community will be getting all the updates and results.

Now, if you want to put Esports Data Provider to the test and see everything we can provide to your community as well as how our API supports the main esports titles in the industry, you can get your API key here. All you need is a valid e-mail and you’ll be good to go in no time.

Keep an eye as there’s more to come

2022 will be a big year for Esports Data Provider and bringing VALORANT to our API is just the start. We have many updates yet to come, and while we can’t talk about them just yet, we’re very excited for what future holds for us and can’t wait to share what’s next.
